On 15 August 2026, Wetlands International and other organisations and academic institutions joined the Warga Saintis Program organised by Perbadanan Putrajaya at Wetland Putrajaya, Presint 13. Centered on the theme “Belajar seperti saintis, bertindak sebagai local champion”, the initiative aimed to deepen public awareness regarding the ecological importance of Putrajaya’s wetlands as natural water filters and critical biodiversity habitats.

At the “Dragonfly Rangers” booth, team members educated visitors of all ages on the life cycle of dragonflies and highlighted that Putrajaya hosts at least 12 species, including Orthetrum chrysis and Agriocnemis femina.  They also explained the key physical differences between dragonflies and damselflies.

As part of an interactive 10-booth passport challenge designed to foster hands-on learning, both registered participants and general visitors could take part in the activities. Participants from Category A (ages 6–9) and Category B (ages 10–15), as well as general visitors, earned their Dragonfly Rangers stamp by taking part in a “Dragonfly Spotter” hunt and solving a hands-on lifecycle puzzle, demonstrating how dragonflies serve as vital bioindicators of a healthy ecosystem.

The event successfully engaged 498 participants throughout the day. Activities concluded with inspiring take-home messages for all participants, emphasizing that protecting local wetland habitats begins with small, daily acts of stewardship and that everyone can serve as a champion for environmental conservation in their own community.
