In line with its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, QL Resources Berhad partnered with Wetlands International and the Selangor State Forestry Department for a CSR mangrove restoration effort at Hutan Simpan Banjar Utara (Sungai Yu), on 10th October 2026. This milestone event marked a major achievement in their multi-year collaboration initiated since 2022.
The initiative brought together dedicated staff from QL Resources and volunteers from Kolej Mara Seremban, totaling up to 180 participants. The team successfully planted 1,500 seedlings at the identified degraded mangrove area assessed prior to this planting program, focusing on key native species: Bakau Minyak (Rhizophora apiculata) and Bakau Kurap (Rhizophora mucronata). Both species feature complex root systems that effectively stabilize shoreline soil and provide shelter for local wildlife.
In addition to hands-on work, participants gained valuable insights into proper planting techniques designed to sustain optimum survival and growth rates, as well as a broader understanding of the mangrove ecosystem as a whole during the 10-minute educational sharing session.
This landmark event reinforces QL Resources’ dedication to long-term environmental stewardship, honoring natural heritage, and building climate resilience across Malaysia’s wetland habitats.
