As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to environmental protection, THOR Specialties Sdn. Bhd., in collaboration with Wetlands International and Selangor State Forestry Department organised a mangrove restoration programme at Hutan Simpan Banjar Utara (Sungai Yu), Selangor. The initiative brought together 32 employees on 11th July 2026, to participate in a hands-on conservation activity aimed at restoring coastal ecosystems and strengthening the resilience of Malaysia’s wetlands through nature-based solutions.

Restoring Coastal Ecosystems Through Nature-based Solutions

The core focus of the day was introducing 500 seedlings: Bakau Minyak (Rhizophora apiculata) and Bakau Kurap (Rhizophora mucronata) to the identified degraded zones within Hutan Simpan Banjar Utara. These true mangrove species with unique and complex stilt roots are crucial for stabilizing shorelines, mitigating erosion, and creating sanctuary spaces for diverse marine life.
