SEMINAR KEBANGSAAN HUTAN PAYA LAUT DAN PESISIRAN PANTAI TAHUN 2024

The General Conference of UNESCO on 2015 has designated July 26th as the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem to be held annually. The celebration aims to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystems as “a unique, special and vulnerable ecosystem” and to promote solutions for their sustainable management, conservation and uses.

 

The Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia (JPSM) in collaboration with Forestry Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and Forest Department Sarawak (JHS) have successfully organised National Seminar for Mangroves and Coastal on July 25th and 26th, 2024 at Kuching, Sarawak.

 

A total of 16 papers and 22 posters were presented throughout the 2-day seminar by subject matter experts from government agencies and NGOs. All presentations highlighting the management, research, and development related to conservation and restoration of mangroves in Malaysia. Furthermore, the seminar was completed with the launching of the newly updated version of Status of Mangroves in Malaysia book.
