Mangrove Restoration Programme held on Saturday, 14th October 2023 at Banjar Utara Forest Reserve (Bagan Pasir) Selangor

A Mangrove restoration programme was successfully conducted in partnership with Selangor State Forestry Department for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project with QL Resources Sdn. Bhd.

The programme began with a welcoming remark from Dr. Chia Song Kun, Executive Chairman and Me. Chia Song Kooi, Group Managing Director of QL Resources.  After this, there was a safety briefing and planting techniques given by Forestry Officer, Puan Ain and Encik Hakimi.  A total of 2,000 mangrove seedlings; Bakau Minyak (Rhizophora apiculata) and Bakau Kurap (Rhizophora mucronata) were planted at Banjar Utara Forest Reserve, forested area for preservation and controlled use. Fifteen youths also volunteered to join the activity and assisted with the planting of seedlings. Meanwhile, Forestry and Wetlands International officers assisted the  the participants to ensure they followed the right technique during the planting session.

As part of our environment activities, we hope that more corporate sectors including the public will continuously support and participate in such activities which will create more awareness on the benefits of conserving and restoring mangroves and their ecosystems in future!
